What started as a father's dream for his family has turned into a family all its own. The Woodtex team is filled with members from all walks of life, but with one common goal. All are passionate about what we do and excited about where we are going. Get to know the Woodtex team and reach out to any member who can help you with your next project!
Woodtex was established by Sanford & Barb Lapp in 1983, after they moved to Himrod, NY, from Lancaster, PA. Sanford dreamed of building a business to support his young family. Within five years, Woodtex had established itself in the area, and the family had grown to include four children: Joleen, Dorothea, Kent, and Ben. After a short but hard-fought battle with cancer, Sanford passed away in 1994. With little business experience, a fiercely determined Barb assumed ownership of the company all while raising four young children. Barb kept the family business going strong and handed over the reigns to Kent and Ben when they were ready.
Today, Kent Lapp leads operations at Woodtex. Growth has come earnestly, and Woodtex now has Sales Centers and Retail Partners in several states, plus more than 100 Team Members. With an emphasis on quality craftsmanship, outstanding customer experiences, and Christian values, the company has no plans on slowing down. Click here to read more about The Woodtex Story.
Kent is a strategic planner and works daily on developing and perfecting the vision and plans of Woodtex. He likes to bring a method to the madness and keep the team pulling in the same direction. His goal is to promote, drive, and develop people through creative ideas and processes, encouraging them to reach their fullest potential. Kent's personal interests include cycling (the pedal kind), devouring good books, strategizing, conversations, and meeting new people. One item on his bucket list is to never retire.
Greatest personal achievement: Marrying his wife and also developing more patience. (He admits his wife taught him everything he knows about patience.)
Nothing fires Bill up more than being part of a team with a mission. Known for being driven, approachable and a tad out of the ordinary, Bill sees his greatest asset as his word and its dependability. Bill's role at Woodtex is to help the team identify goals and develop plans to reach them.
When Bill isn't bringing passion and intensity to the Woodtex team, he's got his game face on as a husband and dad. Bill pours as much energy as he can into being a husband to his wife, Amanda, and a father to their five kids, who often have him geared up for anything from baseball to dance, with some college prep in between.
Sterling makes sure that the finance and accounting function at Woodtex is operating as effectively and efficiently as possible so that each team at Woodtex has actionable insights to maximise their operations. Scheduling deliveries for customers, dispatching trucks, and leading the Delivery and Onsite Team's at Woodtex are just a few of the things that consume Nelson's day. Nelson enjoys reading, raising boar goats, playing guitar, spending time with his family, playing volleyball and softball, and hanging out with friends.

With years of experience and lots of practice, Marvin has perfected the art of delivery and installation. He might make his job look easy, but don't be fooled–significant amounts of talent, detail, and preparation go into each and every delivery from the time of loading at the manufacturing facility to navigating the highways with the oversized load and then the challenging but enjoyable task of placing the structure exactly where the customer wanted it both safely and efficiently. Marvin enjoys working with others, encouraging them to do their best. Marvin enjoys outdoor activities, including but not limited to traveling in the states and abroad, camping, sightseeing, animals, hobby farming, and anything that has tires and a motor. He also loves spending quality time with his wife, Lydianne, and 2 young children in between those long days on the road. He also enjoys making time for friends, relatives, and church.
